A couple years ago, a friend and I visited an abandoned neighborhood in Clairton, PA. That is a little south of Pittsburgh. I don’t know if it is still standing. If so, be aware that the police do patrol the area for trespassers. Also, many of the houses have no floors, as they rotted and collapsed some while ago. For those that still have floors, I would ask myself if there is anything there worth breaking my leg or my neck before walking out on it.
Why was the neighborhood abandoned?
There are numerous stories. Most of them wildly unbelievable. We were told by some locals, over a beer, that it was due to nothing more than an aborted plan to build a highway.
My friend, seen in the pictures, is good at coaxing people to tell local lore.
