I saw this and was wondering if there was any more info on it, or if it’s true at all. I couldn’t find anything on AO for it already…
Nop I don’t sorry…
Went through the original twitter post and found a link to a blog post claiming credit for the photos and information on the location. According to the (updated as of 2018) blog post, the original location has been cleaned out and the big boy statues have been moved. They claim the statues have been set up in a new discreet location that i suspect is on private property.
Here’s the link to that blog post too btw The Big Boy Graveyard: Rediscovered 7 Years Later
I hope that helps? It’s a bit of a shame that they’re not open to the public
wow great sleuthing! it is a shame, but thank you for the info!
Nope but one can only assume that it is the last resting place of the late “big Bob” ?
Can’t say that I even know who big Bob was though…
It was a sit-down hamburger restaurant chain.
I see, was it outcompeted by Mcdonald’s or Burger King ?
Probably more by Denny’s and similar, as it wasn’t a drive-in.
Have to admit my ignorance of Denny’s too, but I am guessing that this was another fast food franchise.
It’s even got a Wikipedia page too!
Now I know what a Denny’s is, you learn something new everyday
There’s one along 135 near McPherson (north of Wichita) painted black and white as an advertisement for a chimney sweep!
Oh - sorry - apparently it’s a Happy Chef
They have been selling them
And some were purchased
I believe a bunch now reside at
Crystal Onyx cave in cave city Kentucky
They have at least five big boys
