We visited in 2014 when we could still travel. I find the posted Geetha Upadesha especially poignant now. Batu Cave is one of the most popular Tamil shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. If you climb and have food with you, be aware that the numerous monkeys will be extremely interested.
Was there about a month ago, the steps are painted in bright colors now, most in chromatic scales that resemble rainbows. Those monkeys are indeed cheeky, saw them stealing bags of food straight out of people’s hands and playing with the shoes left outside by those who go in the temple. It’s not uncommon to find people looking for a single shoe after walking out and finding the monkeys moved it somewhere else.
