This playlist is amazing! Dead Can Dance is often my traveling/wandering music. Also one of my favorite exploration songs is Plainsong by The Cure!

I don’t wear earbuds / headphones because I want to be aware of my environment, whether I’m in the city or on an isolated trail. But they do make speakers for backpacks, and I saw / heard one. I think the Hyper Light Drifter soundtrack would be perfect for the woods I usually hike through. Many game OSTs by nature would be good for this.

YES. (Fun fact: most of my Atlas Obscura work is done to the tune of video game soundtracks and dungeon synth.) The soundtrack to the game, Oxenfree, is one of my favorite exploration companions.
