A thing similar to this that I picked up when I lived in Maine was apple syrup. Basically take 1cup of Cider
1/3 cup apple jelly
And on medium heat reduce to about half depending on how thick you like or want the syrup.
This was also commonly made with cinnamon and allspice in it if it was going to be on pancakes or waffles

I use it when making apple sauce and apple butter. Adds a zing.
