Bookstores in Florida/Tennessee/Georgia

Hi! Anyone know of any unique/cool bookstores in the south around Florida, Georgia, or Tennessee? Haven’t been able to really find any.

YES! My favorite bookstore of all time is McKay’s. It’s a used bookstore with chains in Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis, and Chattanooga. The books are all in good condition, and you can walk out of the store with an arm-full of books for less than $20. It’s kind of an adventure to see what you’ll come across each time you go!

Have you checked out A Cappella Books in Atlanta?

Check out Haslam Books in St. Petersburg. It’s one of Florida’s largest. Good folks; good vibe.

Come to Memphis. Burke’s Books, 936 Cooper (in Midtown Memphis), is one of those wonderful places that has used books mixed in with the new books and a lot of local authors, including poets and graphic novelists. Then right around the corner, on 2172 Young, is Two Rivers Bookstore, which focuses on (used) science fiction and fantasy. Pick up an old copy of Fantasy and Science Fiction and take it to one of the fine restaurants in Cooper-Young to inhale along with the great food.

One of my faves and it’s in Savannah GA. I lived there and E. Shaver was a go-to among locals as well as tourists. Lots of low ceilings and nooks.

Ooh, going to Savannah in a few weeks and will check E. Shaver out.

My favorite place in Tampa is Mojo Books & Records a bookstore, vinyl & coffee shop hybrid.

There is a TASCHEN storefront on Lincoln Road in South Beach, Miami. Great for browsing.

In Atlanta I love Posman Books & in Nashville I’ll second @erinmnorthup’s Parnassus recommendation above.

Favorite bookstore in Jacksonville, FL (NE Florida near Georgia line) is Chamblin’s Bookmine! The original is on Roosevelt Blvd. and it’s a delightful byzantine labyrinth of books where you can happily and almost literally get lost in. There’s also a Chamblin’s Bookmine & Coffee Shop downtown, same concept but a bit smaller & with coffee and vegan treats. The people there obviously love books and love what they do.
