You’re missing out the fact that the road was carved out of the cliff by hand during WW1 between 1915 and 1922 by Italian prisoners

I did this drive last year. Unfortunately, no one mentioned how hair-raising it can be, and I was running late in going back to Cape Town, so I started out just at dusk. By the time I got to Cape Town I was literally a nervous wreck, all shaky and what-not! It’s not for the faint-hearted, but it is a wonderful drive.

We just did this drive last week. No International Credit Cards, any Debit Cards etc. are accepted at the Toll Booth. Have cash handy or a South African Credit Card. Gorgeous drive, but one needs to be extremely careful while driving it.
