Worth mentioning that the McKenzie Pass doesn’t open to vehicle traffic until summer and then the old road is restricted to very short trailers (probably best to not take a trailer on the road). While the Dee Wright is very interesting, keep going on the side road off of the Old McKenzie Highway and you’ll come to Lava Camp Lake. This is a fantastic swimming lake and a great place to camp, there are no fish as the lake freezes solid during the winter, nor lures snagged in the lake which is shallow and warms up as the water filters in through the lava.
