I love everything that comes out of Studio Ghibli. I visited in the summer of 2018. Was lucky enough to get tickets about a month before our arrival through a special lottery. Went with modest expectations. I was more than pleasantly surprised. It was a delightful visit with the added benefit of seeing a limited Ghibli animation at the theater. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in Ghibli Studios’ work. Also, the museum sits in the wonderful Inokashira Park, which is worth a visit on its own.

When visiting the museum, also check out the Inokashira Park Benzaiten Shrine in the same park.

Sadly Ghibli Museum will be closed until 17th March 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

If you’re still planning to go to Tokyo and want to see something related to Ghibli, try Edo-Tokyo Open Air Museum. Some buildings in Spirited Away were modelled after the exhibits in the museum.
