Interactive woodcarving museum

Back in 1964, my family took a trip West and along the way went to a museum in which someone had carved life sized figures that, with the help of staff located above the figure, “spoke” with the museum goer that walked by. I vaguely remember the place, but my 85 year old mom wants to locate it and know if it is still operating. As she recalls it was a family venture. I showed her pics of Tinkertown in NM, but she says that is not the place. It is likely located in Arizona, Colorado, Utah or Nevada given the route that was taken. Anyone know of this place and have an update I can give her?
