Went there in 1984 while stationed in Vicenza. Went with friends that had been there before. It’s kind of hidden down an alley, but it opens up to the statue and front of house. At that time, we were able to go out on the balcony. It was a bit shaky then, don’t know if it’s still open to go out there. Maybe they have done some work on it. Great to go see!

“Kind of hidden down an alley”? It’s just a couple of hundred yards from the Arena in Piazza Bra, Verona’s historic navel and soon enough you can just follow the crowd. To me it’s all stuff and nonsense, but I wouldn’t for a minute say that to the thousands of faithful believers who go there every year. It’s touching, and I enjoy that simple display of faith every time I go.
