Besides the Melbourne Central watch’s chain vanishing when the watch was moved into storage during renovations, the “Seiko” application on the face was also removed for some reason and only its outline remains.

I’ve always wondered why that is perhaps it was ‘gifted’ by seiko then the deal fell through or something maybe they had a store there or something

The watch was gifted to Melbourne for Melbourne Central’s grand opening in 1991 when the Japanese Daimaru department store was the flagship store for the centre, so maybe there was a connection between the closure of Daimaru and the removal of the Seiko branding. Or maybe the Seiko branding was damaged while the watch was in storage.
