Show Us Your Favorite Places That Are Transformed by Snow

show-and-tell

Much of the U.S. is in the throes of a somewhat frightening cold snap. But for as potentially unpleasant as this cold front is, winter weather can also create some rather incredible winter vistas. Recently we asked our readers to show us their favorite places that are transformed by snowfall, and the results were pretty chill (sorry).

We want to hear about more places you don’t think look complete without a cover of snow, so share them in the comments below, and don’t forget to include any pictures you might have as well!

In Minneapolis, when Minnehaha falls freezes you can walk behind them and it is spectacular.

#3

And if Lake Superior freezes you can walk out to the frozen Apostle Islands and it is bananas!

Somewhere near Leavenworth, WA.

#5

That’s… pretty epic.

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Snow turns this gritty, polluted city into something else. Be on top of Bogd Mountains by sunrise for a good shot.

#7

The Pskov Cave Monastery

looks much better in winter. The whole complex stands out in the background of white snowy trees. It is much less crowded in winter too.

#8

Your shot made it into the article too!

This is lovely.

Man do I wish I had a hot link to the picture of Forbes State Forest I submitted. I did a ton of hiking in the mountains in Western Pa. over the years and got some unreal shots. The particular picture I sent was of what was essentially a tunnel of bent over saplings and other brush right in the middle of a trail just the perfect size to scoot under.

I’m at a lower altitude, near Sumas, but there’s a pretty winter scene just off my front door nearly every year…! Great shot! Christmas%20Day%202008122508033|653x500

Don’t know why my photo doesn’t show in my post… just the file name.

Not sure what happened there, but you could try to upload it again, by just dragging it into a new comment field.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot…so to speak! Christmas%20Day%202008122508033|653x500
