Wow - I have such a great memory of the old Pan Am helicopter and helipad on top of their midtown Manhattan building. We flew into JFK airport on a Pan Am flight (from SFO) then were taken to the Chinook (?) Pan Am branded helicopter that whisked us directly to their midtown headquarters building. The view of the city was insane - far better than anything similar today, since it flew so low. Landing on top of the building was - to an 8 year-old - the coolest thing ever, but my mother white-knuckled it.
I can’t recall much about the terminal on the inside of the Pan Am building, because we were down on the street level very quickly (after collecting our luggage) and hailing a cab. I’ll never forget the experience.
