Does anyone else collect photos of drain covers and other street furniture? I find they are more attractive than those in the UK and are a useful way of acknowledging where you have been. Here are a few beautiful ones from my recent trip to Mayen and I have many more.
I think you would enjoy this then. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/japanese-manhole-covers In Japan they have taken on a whole new meaning and art form.
I’m usually too busy looking up rather than down. Perhaps because I live in the UK “They” aren’t as interesting, so when I travel abroad I make it a point to look down. “They” are a great way of signifying where you’ve been. Here is one from Moscow when I was there for the World Cup.
Lol. My last name is Kreiss.
I collect manhole cover pictures on my travels, too! Recently found some beautiful ones in Norway.
I love the world of manhole collecting!!! This is wonderful.
Kreiss, do you have any photos to share? I have many more if anyone would be interested
I went to Texas during mid June and took a photo of this manhole in Houston.
Far more elaborate than the bland boring local ones.
