The Glasgow Necropolis

Welcome to the Atlas Obscura Community discussion of The Glasgow Necropolis in Glasgow, Scotland. Ask questions or share travel tips, experiences, pictures, or general comments with the community. For the story behind this place, check out the Atlas Obscura entry:

In my opinion, this is one of the top places to visit in Glasgow. Whether in bright sunshine, when you can sit on the grass and enjoy the views, or when it blowing a gale, and you can conjure up images of the ghosts of the past flitting between gravestones and memorials.

The Necropolis provides the best view of Glasgow Cathedral laid out below the graveyard. The Friends of the Necropolis, a charitable trust, undertake restoration work on the monuments, as well carrying out historical research work. You can support their work by booking one of their regular tours led by a volunteer guide.
