I do not intend my comment to lower the tenor of the article but add another culinary myth, that of monkey brains. I have found no credible written references, no first-hand account, but over the course of 50-plus years travelling throughout the Far East and Southeast Asia have been told many times by many in many places that, yes, it is the custom of those cruel and decadent - Japanese, Chinese especially Cantonese, Filipinos, Koreans, Malays, Vietnamese, etc., you take your pick. This myth has travelled far, seemingly to wherever and among whomever employs it to differentiate themselves and arrogate a superior morality.
What? You’ve heard it too? And repeated it?
