As full of wonder as our little blue marble is, the majesty of space is even more unfathomably incredible. Our solar system has inspired some truly amazing monuments and works of art in humanity’s ongoing quest to capture the wonders of the cosmos, and this is most true of the incredible astronomical models that can be found all across the globe. From the monuments of the local planets spread across Ithaca, New York, to the intricate astronomical clocks found in some European churches, to any number of amazing planetarium models, the world is full of unforgettable astronomical models. And now we want to hear about your favorites.

So, this isn’t exactly a model, but a piece of medieval astronomical technology people may find interesting: the Los Angeles County Museum of Art posted a picture of this astrolabe to their Instagram account today! It’s so gorgeous and intricate.
